Components of Ginseng
The various components of Korean ginseng, such as ginseng saponins (Ginsenosides), acidic polysaccharides,
amino acids, polyacetylene, minerals, etc., are synergistic and provide health benefits to the human body.
Ginseng is superior to American ginseng or notoginseng in terms of ingredients and efficacy.
Components
Contains Kind
Saponins: 3-6% - Protopanaxadiol-based saponins
- Protopanaxadiol-based saponins
- Oleanolic acid-based saponins
Nitrogenous Compound: 12-16% - Proteins: amino acids, peptides, nucleic acids, alkaloids, etc.
Oil-Soluble Component: 1-2% - Lipids: fatty acids, essential oils, phytosterols, organic acids, etc.
- Phenolic Compounds: polyacetylene, terpenoids, etc.
Vitamins: 0.05% - Water-Soluble Vitamins: B1, B2, B6, B12, C, H, etc.
Carbohydrates:
60-70%
- Polysaccharides, acidic polysaccharides: monosaccharides, disaccharides,
polysaccharides, crude fiber, pectin, etc.
Ash: 4-6% - Minerals: Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn, Cu, K, Na, etc.
Ginseng Saponin
Ginseng saponins contain 20-30% more than those found in foreign ginseng, making it very different from other types of ginseng. It also contains more triol-based saponins than foreign ginseng, which are effective in reducing fatigue and stress, improving sexual function, and protecting against radiation.
In general, saponins have toxicity such as hemolytic action when consumed in large amounts, but ginseng has no side effect even if taken for a long period of time due to its non-toxicity.
Ginseng saponins vary in thickness and size and are found in the following parts of ginseng: about 5% in the body, about 6% in the big fine root, and about 13% in the small fine root.
In addition to saponins, ginseng contains acidic polysaccharide much more than American ginseng or notoginseng and the compound has recently been attracting attention as an well-being ingredient.
